How Does Popcorn Lung Relate to E-Cigarette Use?

Popcorn lung is a respiratory ailment that has been increasingly common in recent years, and the usage of electronic cigarettes, commonly known as vaping or juuling, has also increased dramatically over the past several years. Many people use the terms “vaping” and “juuling” interchangeably to refer to the same practise. Is this really a coincidence? The most current research suggests otherwise on enail dab kits.

Popcorn lung has been increasingly common among vapers over the past year, and its prevalence may be linked to the use of electronic cigarettes.

Vaping…what is it?

Electronic cigarettes emit steam or vapour when a liquid (often containing nicotine or marijuana) is heated up inside of it. To consume the nicotine, marijuana, or other narcotics, the user inhales and exhales the vapour.

If popcorn lung is a real thing, please explain it.

Popcorn lung, also known as bronchiolitis obliterans, is an infection of the bronchioles, the smaller airways in the lungs. Inducing scarring and obstruction of these critical airways can cause wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing.

During inspiration, fresh air enters the trachea from the oesophagus. Any time you take a deep breath, this will occur. The trachea then branches off into two smaller airways (bronchi) that each connect to one of your lungs.

The bronchi will then branch off into smaller airways called bronchioles. The bronchioles are the tiniest branches of the bronchial tree. Popcorn lung occurs when the bronchioles become scarred and restricted, making it harder for the lungs to take in oxygen.

Popcorn lung can be caused by repeatedly inhaling a small amount of a number of dangerous compounds or agents, some of which can be found in electronic cigarettes.

Diacetyl, a chemical used to give food a buttery flavour, was found in the lungs of popcorn plant workers. It was due to this that the condition now known as popcorn lung was identified.

In addition, diacetyl can be found in some of the liquids used in an electronic cigarette.

Popcorn lung has also been linked to other conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and graft-versus-host disease, which can develop after a lung or bone marrow transplant.
